Better yet, put a complete ban on political advertising. That way the amount of money you have can't influence the election. Make the candidates get out and press the flesh on their soap box.

Have a few televised soap boxes too, like on CSPAN, or Public TV, where only the candidate is seen. If they want to smear the other guy they have to do it themselves. No smear tactics spokesperson. Let them sling mud, but they have to be man (woman) enough to get up there and do it themselves. Access to these televised soap boxes would be equally distributed among the candidates.

This whole business about donations being equivalent to free speech is hokum. Why would a rich person get more free speech than a poor person? Each person has one tongue, and that is how free speech should be distributed, equally.
