Because of SI's problems, I'm going to respond in four parts. The first deals with your astonishing claim that the ME or Persian Gulf is a stable region, which is news to me.....

Saddam invaded Kuwait and engaged in a huge war with Iran whose main feature, apart from the enormous loss of life, was the use of WMDs.

The Shah was replaced by a bunch of Mad Mullahs whose idea of fun is to develop nukes and hold Americans hostage.

Yemen had a nice, long war.

Egypt is a pressure cooker ready to explode.

Syria's Assad liked to level cities to retaliate for religious fervor.

Until they got tired of getting spectacularly defeated, a number of countries thought it sporting to regularly join forces and try to invade Israel.

I won't mention Lebanon.

Or the terror organizations that are currently operating in Saudi Arabia. Their goal, you might recall, is to be rid of the Saudi royal family and control the Holy Places, not to mention the huge oil fields.

If that is your idea of stability, God help us from what you might consider chaos.
