That is, indeed, a ray of sunshine. The older I get the more I realize that things swing back and forth and rarely keep going until we're over the cliff. The problem is that, in doing so, we are always in proximity to and heading toward one cliff or another.

I think that the health care system, the education system, drug abuse, and immigration have reached cliff territory. I don't see us fixing any of them. With the first two, we're moving the deck chairs around on the Titanic. With the latter two, we're not focusing at all. I guess it's easier and more satisfying to go shoot Iraqis than to deal with what really ails us.
