Nonetheless, Kerry's campaign obit is already being written, at least by Elmendorf. "I think Kerry's dead because I don't think he has anything to say," Elmendorf told the Grind Sunday (before the announcement of Jordan's dismissal from the Kerry team). "Message has something to do with this, and I don't think he has anything interesting or compelling to say. He's a weak third in Iowa and a weak second in New Hampshire, and I think if you finish third in Iowa and a weak second in New Hampshire, you're through."

A Kerry spokesman could not be reached for comment on Elmo's pre-emptive strike, part of the increasingly malicious battle developing to become the most viable alternative to Dean.

For his part, Clark is responding to Dean by taking a page out of the Internet playbook. Senior members of Clark's communications and Internet teams will hold a conference call today to discuss the progress of Internet-based initiatives and the launch of exciting new projects in the coming week.

The Little Rock staff will be joined on the call by Karmen Jelincic, director and producer of WesCam: Wes Side Stories, a video Webcast coming soon to www.clark04.com.
