ZAK for NT falls short
Zero Admin update requires double-digit training hours

Microsoft Corp.'s Zero Administration Kit for Windows
NT 4.0 is falling short of its original promise to simplify
system management.

Intended to lower the overall cost of ownership and ease administration, ZAK, which was released in June, includes tools that should automate the setup of desktop clients, monitor hardware and software installation, and enable administrators to remotely set user policy.

The reality, according to some users, is that implementation of the kit itself is difficult to learn, the documentation is arduous, operation with non-Microsoft applications and operating systems is
not smooth, and no consideration is paid to mobile users or those interested in Java.
