Ten,

re: So tell me, why can George Soros spend millions on an anti-Bush campaign? What's to stop a "special interest" from spending millions on ads that implicitly endorse a certain candidate's position or platform? Is it OK for Soros to get around CPR laws just because Bush has outraised the other nine Democrats combined? By the way, all that money Bush raised was legal hard-money:

The Soros matching donations are also legal; they are going to MoveOn, which is a "527" organization. Decent article in this morning's WSJ if you want more info.

Deans support appears to be grass root, with donations averaging less than $50. I don't imagine the same can be said for Bush. I wonder how many executives at HAL have donated the maximum? But whoever get's the Dem's nod will certainly get their share of special interest dollars, many from those that are smart enough to play both sides, just in case.

Everybody knows the election finance laws have no teeth. To bad, it would be more interesting if it was a level playing field, and everybody had the exact same $'s to spend.

John
