Gearing up for NT 5.0
Microsoft lays groundwork for major desktop migration
www8.zdnet.com

From the article:

"To continue pushing users along the NT 5.0 upgrade path, the Redmond, Wash., company is starting to position its forthcoming multiuser NT technology, code-named Hydra, as the bridge to link Windows 3.x
users with NT 5.0 users."

"By deploying a thin client interface for Windows 3.x, corporations will be able to build applications that take advantage of NT 5.0 functions such as transaction processing, integrated Web serving and a new directory architecture, yet still run on 16-bit computers."
---------------

This is interesting because MSFT is having trouble moving users to a 32bit environment, some 80 Mil users still run Windows 3.11, so looks like their stratagy is to migrate them to a multi-user NT "Thin Client" At this point organisations can choose an NC, a WBT (windows based terminal) or a generic PC as their desktop.
