Having spent the better part of a year sailing the Carribbean, I'm pretty familiar with most of the islands. The best ones, of course, are the ones that you need a puddle jumper or boat to get to. Among my favorites was Aruba which can be reached by commercial service. My least favorite was St. Thomas, a beautiful place but the natives are difficult. Nearby St. Croix and St. John (also part of the American Virgin Islands) are also beautiful but have the same problem. The British Virgins, like Tortola, are a whole lot better but more difficult to get to. St. Thomas is a major stop for cruise ships so there are plenty of tourists and plenty of shops and activities to handle them. The Virgin Islands are more lush than Aruba but I liked the atmosphere on Aruba better.

However, if I were to go back somewhere, it would be Cabo or La Paz.
