The bandits in Washington didn't slow down enough to read people like Bearden's comments in your link:

"There were two stark lessons in the history of the 20th century: no nation that launched a war against another sovereign nation ever won. And every nationalist-based insurgency against a foreign occupation ultimately succeeded ... it indicates how difficult the situation may become. "

Going further, the priority isn't finding WMD or an exit strategy, as important as those are. The highest priority is getting access to the truth, which may or may not bring down the Bush regime, but needs to be sought by the efforts of every Democrat. For all we know, Bearden's comments are well-known, and provide exactly the conditions they're looking for.

In any case, Bearden suggests we're in for the long "slog" Rumsfeld admits, with torrents of lies and death. Here's an indication of what's being done to get us ready for Bushwhack '04:
