Steve, the sad part is that most of the y2k myths are now accepted as fact and people are making investment decisions based on these myths. I received email a couple of months ago from an investor claiming that a certain company would get a multi-billion dollar contract to fix all cars built by GM since 1971 in a massive recall program, he really believed it and I could not convince him otherwise. He said I was "in denial" of the problem. I told him to call the company and ask about that contract. He responded that of course GM and the company would both deny it because it was being kept secret until the "conversion factories" were in place to handle that many cars.

I expect these myths to grow and new ones to be created right up to Jan 1, 2000 and then get extended for another year because the millenium does not really start until Jan 1, 2001.
