Your statement wreaks of US conceitedness and also US vanity.

By chance, did you mean "reeks" with conceitedness?

And no.. it's not conceit... If anything, it's utter amazement that people such as yourself, Europe, and the Arabs have been so focused upon playing politics with such a dangerous issue as Islamic militancy.

The fact is that very few people know their true capabilities, or exactly who has been backing them with technology, money, and political support. So underestimating them has been incredibly unwise.

The world will fight the scourge of terrorism at its own pace.

Well, you'd better get a move on.. Y'all don't have much time left... a matter of 5 years maybe, and maybe not even that long. There are millions of muslims ready to turn 18 in the middle east within the coming few years.

So Hawk people like yourself and the Bushies are seeking even the slightest excuse to say Bush is right.

Actually, for me it's not about Bush.. It's about this nation.. You see.. this nation is at war, not just George Bush. George Bush may not be president in a little over a year, but this country will still be at war against Islamic terrorism.

But given how people with your mindset have seemed intensely focused on crucifying George Bush and his "with us or against us" mindset related to the war on terror, I think he probably deserves some credit for staying the course in the face of incredible domestic and international pressure. Whatever anyone can say about the man, he's someone who sticks to his convictions when he knows he's right.

But it's not like it was difficult for him to be right in choosing to oppose terrorism.. It was just the right thing to do. And it was not difficult for him to take a stand against Saddam's continuing intransigence in light of the events of 9/11. It was just the right thing to do..

But sometimes nations are so blinded by their own selfish interests that they fail to see the greater danger lingering around the corner for all of us.

Saudi Arabia is one of those countries. They knew damn well what was going on with Al-Qaeda. In fact, they were probably somewhat happy that Bin Laden was focusing his attention upon the US and not them. Maybe they hoped they would be able to contain, and/or placate, him by requesting the removal of all US troops from SA (one of his demands).

The Saudi government has been less than forthcoming about the connections of many of its royals in supporting, or paying protection money, to Al-Qaeda.

But I have a feeling that all of that's about to change... At least until they believe they have the threat under control.

All I say, US pipe down, quit from trying to be a world leader, shore up your intelligence for that is the best way to fight terror.

Uh Chinu? The US economy accounts for 30% of total global GDP. That makes us a leader by default. No other nation comes close to challenging the economic or military power of the US. Maybe a decade from now, but until then, it's Pax Americana. And we're not that bad.. Just look at the trade deficit we currently possess!! That is a direct result of the US consumer buying more foreign goods than they sell overseas.

Europe should be a world leader, but they can't get their economic or political act together. China could rival the US, but it's a Fascist state right now and that can't last forever given the desire for political freedom there.

Look at the Soviets who fought on their own to free themselves from the shackles of communism and embrace democracy.

So the US had nothing to do with that? Come one now...
