BTW, about what other companies could one make arguments that part-timers' retirement and fringe benefits were being cut? Most part-timers don't even get benefits.


Nordstoms comes to mind. Damlier-Benz A.G. I don't think UPS is bad company I just think it is being suicidal in this battle, obviously employee's will be hurt, but I guess it is management unwillingness to negotiate that seems stupid to me. Since UPS is private if they want to hurt themselves it is their choice but it does seem stupid, kind of like Homestead and Carnigie, but given the current state of employee and employer social contract UPS will be hurt more than Carnigie was and the workers less.
