Sure, that's a stereotype. But as you said, it's one based on a certain amount of evidence.

There are men like you who would take responsibility- fully. But there are so many who don't. Who won't. Look at the problem we have with fathers failing to support. We send the courts after them, we garnish wages, we throw them in jail. They run out and make more babies. You can turn on tv (I am starting to sound like I watch Jerry Springer reruns 24/7) or listen to Dr Laura and watch men deny paternity- even in the face of DNA testing- and come up with the most bizarre excuses for not being a father or husband.

Now you may believe that we should make our decisions relying on the wonderful reliable nature of you, but what of the non-yous? How is a woman to trust a man who might be you, but might not? The consequences are harsh when the man is non-you.
It's interesting that you want women to believe men will behave responsibly when you won't trust women to make decisions responsibly about their pregnancy.

You don;t even trust wonderful, moral me to make the right decisions about my life, yet you want me to accept that some, most, all? men are going to share responsibility equally in this baby I am forced to have because you say so, based on what I see around me?
Dunno.
Seems inconsistent to me. The price is too great for women. Sure, they should have chosen better, behaved better, and the reality is that this is the way things are-- that women are the ones most affected. But until you figure out a way to change men's behavior, and provide wonderful homes for all babies, I am not ready to concede this one to you. Not that I don't wish wholeheartedly for CH's perfect world.
