M-16 is high maintenance and with our love of quality stuff very finely clearanced. Clearances are so slight that a grain of sand is bringing the bolt to a stand still and jamming the weapon. The AK on the other hand is a primitive POS by our standards. Of course because of wide clearances and and poor machining you can drag this POS through mud, sand or the depths of hell and it will still fire and go fully auto without jamming. So who is the smart ones here I wonder.

You've got some Non Comms who may even be in these pictures that were not doing their jobs insuring proper military bearing, etc. is my meaning on dropping the ball. Even a day off around the barracks this kind of nonsense can't go on without some senior man there taking charge and putting a stop to it. So either the senior man/women didn't take charge or is actively participating. Either way I wouldn't want to be them.
