AS,
We agree. There is no other story. Dean has succeeded at sucking the air out of the room for months now. The Clark candidacy was a fizzle.
I'm pretty certain that Dean has this thing wrapped now. Pretty amazing, considering that in the '92 cycle, Clinton didn't even get into the race until October, '91.
There's essentially no stopping Dean at this point.
George Soros just donated $5 Million to MoveOn.org as a matching grant. As you'll recall, last summer, before Dean's "Sleepless in Summer" tour, Dean took 44% of the MoveOn ballots cast in an online "primary". No one else scored more than half of that.
So, in effect, Dean is the MoveOn Man, and Soros is the Dean financier.
You also realize that one of the key players in ACT, America Coming Together, is Andy Stern, the head of SEIU. Soros funded ACT with an initial $10 Million and he hasn't indicated that that is the final total. ACT and SEIU are solid with Dean.
The momentum among the Internet glass routes is way solid for Dean. Here's the MeetUp stats:
Meetup Topic --- # of "Tell-A-Friend" emails sent -- (Systemwide Rank)
dean2004 --- 38,752 -- (1) clark2004 --- 6,255 -- (2) kerry2004 --- 3,035 -- (5) kucinich2004 --- 2,977 -- (7) edwards2004 --- 510 -- (51) bush2004 --- 279 -- (100) moseleybraun2004 --- 229 -- (116) gephard2004 --- 103 -- (217) lieberman2004 --- 51 -- (351) sharpton2004 --- 23 -- (593)
******* The fact that Jesse Jackson Jr. has endorsed Dean takes the wind out of Al Sharpton's childish wimpering about flags.
All in all, Dean is the storming ahead. I hesitate to show poll results. But this one seems irrefutably to show the direction things are moving in New Hampshire:
DEAN LEAD WIDENS IN NH -- November 10, 2003
The latest American Research Group poll confirms a recent Zogby Poll's findings that Dean's lead in New Hampshire is widening, thanks in no small part to the personal letters Dean supporters have been writing to voters in the Granite State. The results, with October's numbers in parenthesis:
Dean 38 (29) Kerry 24 (19) Clark 4 (5) Edwards 4 (3) Lieberman 4 (6) Gephardt 3 (6) Braun 1 (1) Kucinich 1 (1) Sharpton 0 (0)
Particularly noticable is the strength of Dean's support. ARG writes:
Of the 38% saying they would vote for Dean, 82% (31% of all likely Democratic primary voters) say they do not expect their support for Dean will change prior to the primary. Of the 24% saying they would vote for Kerry, 50% (12% of all likely Democratic primary voters) say they do not expect their support for Kerry will change prior to the primary.
