The checks and balances of different government branches are what save us from tyranny. As power is consolidated by Cheney and the neocons, the threat of a dictatorship, or oligarchy grows. Guns are entirely irrelevant to that process as the neocons can just stir up the irrational single issue advocates to aid in the coup.
