Notes from WMT call today: biz.yahoo.com October was slow, Nov. looks about the same. Quote to analysts, "We don't see the strength that many in your industry (Wall Street) see." "Consumer is cautious, facing liquidity issues." Offered little comment about XMAS, other than to say, "I'm looking forward to XMAS PERSONALLY." A funny way of saying, we don't have a clue how it will turn out. This is not even "my dog ate the homework" excuses from WMT. 25-30X earnings for retailers in this environment? biz.yahoo.com
