HB OT - Networking HEEEEELLLPPP

I have soent days tearing my hair out. I have XP on my laptop and my desktop and I tried to set up the network.

It worked when I installed both of them first time a few weeks ago but as with all hings windows things sem to deterirate after a time.

I am networked through a Linksys Wireless router which is my home Access point.

Anyway I disabled the firewall on the desktop and viola the network suddenly appreared and allows fiel transfers although I can't get a document printed on any of the network printers that are hardwired to the desktop if I call for a document to be printed by the laptop on either of these two printers.

So this is the problem:-

1. I don't think I should be connected to the internet without the XP firewall enabled but if I do this I can't network.

2. Any ideas about why I can't get a document to print from the laptop on the network printers.

Thanks ,

I'll post on the other threads as I suspect I may not be the first person to come up against this problem.

Best,

L
