Well the software does qualify a bit with 'and [we]safely recovered some of the files...' after a reformat, but I am still happy to be disabused of the myth. Nothing quite like destroying the exposed media to really get the job done right, eh? Hey, what folks do in the privacy of their own barn is their business. Cows included, no offense!
