SEC Says New Complaint Vs Morgan Stanley
Saturday November 15, 3:09 am ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Securities and Exchange Commission is preparing a complaint against investment bank Morgan Stanley for failing to tell customers it had received compensation in return for sales of specific mutual funds, the Washington Post reported on Saturday

The newspaper said the complaint could be filed as early as Monday. It cited unidentified sources for its report, saying officials at Morgan Stanley and the SEC had declined comment.

Morgan Stanley disclosed last month the SEC was considering enforcement action for its "alleged failure to disclose the sources, types and amounts of compensation received by it from investment companies for selling their products" to investors.

The investment bank has already been fined $2 million by the National Association of Securities Dealers for improper sales contests for mutual fund brokers and managers.

The NASD is the securities industry's principle self-regulatory body.
