Yes, your points are well taken. I was conveniently ignoring the venture capitalist aspect of the company to value it.
These companies historically trade at a discount to their holdings and as you pointed out, what are the value of their holdings (some private corporations that defy transparency). It is probably hugely revealing that they describe their Q releases as reporting "results" and not reporting "earnings".

I note they dove into golds in recent times.

Certainly more DD would be warranted before making the jump and a self evaluation of ones confidence in sector selection would also be in order here.

If golds and the Nasdaq continue their strength then macro view suggests they will do very well providing their individual equity and private funding selection has been judicious within that macro.
