Great dig! Outstanding piece.

The paragraph below caught my eye, as not long after the date mentioned, the foolish Clinton/Gore cuts in our armed forces finally began to slow down. Unfortunately for us most of the damage to our national defense had already been inflicted.

For example:
In 1987 our active and reserve force was 3.325 million strong.
By 1998 clinton had hacked it to 2.305 million. The US Army was chopped from 18 to 10 Divisions. The Navy and USAF lost similar combat forces.

in the 1999 defense budget proposal, he chopped it further to 2.273 million and set an end goal of 2.195 million.

DoD civilian personnel suffered a bigger axing as strength went from 1.127 million in 1987 to 0.747 million in 1998 with the end goal set at 0.64 million.

And demos continue to think their politicos are for jobs and national security.

President Bill Clinton went to the Pentagon on February 18, 1998, and prepared the nation for war. He warned of "an unholy axis of terrorists, drug traffickers, and organized international criminals" and said "there is no more clear example of this threat than Saddam Hussein."
