Politicians are like movie stars. Even if they become suddenly unpopular, they are always welcomed to make a comeback after a period in Hollywood hell. Gore has served his time. If needed by the party to defeat Dean (and Bush) he may very well be welcomed back with open arms, and given the benefit of the doubt by swing-voters.
