I said nothing about NATO led. NATO has pretty much stuck together politically until Bush blew it asunder with his "diplomacy" wrt Iraq. And for good reason, France and Germany were right, which is obvious now.

I didn't say anything about UN approval. Though UN approval is not a bad thing.

At least if we had our loyal political supporters on our side, we wouldn't look like we are trying to reshape the political and religious world. As it stands, the Muslim extremists can make a convincing (if not accurate) argument that we, in conjunction with Isreal, are instigating a religious war. And that plays into the hands of the OBL's of the world.

Iraq was a mistake, plain and simple. Now it's just a matter of figuring a way to end it with the least damage. I think even the Bush administration has come to that realization.
