Caught a segment on the news talking about Bush's visit to England .. Brits talking about the preparations and/or special precautions being sought .. that they wanted to reinforce the stone walls of Buckingham Palace and put special barriers to cover or protect the windows near his room(s), build a moat, etc., etc., .. but that the Queen had said no to these changes or ideas.
They then mentioned that this topic was now all over British television and providing fodder for comedians, etc. They showed two Brits doing a bit and discussing the issue and how Bush was requiring the area to be completely cleared of everything, people, animals, traffic, activity, etc.
First anchor: ... they want to clear the area of everything you know ..
Second anchor: uh huh,
First anchor: of traffic, all activity actually, and of people, ..
Second anchor: and buildings (everyone laughs at this interjection)
First anchor: right, so the gun ships can fly and hover over his head
Second anchor: yes, and they can drop ticker tape so he can imagine we're all quite happy to see him |
