I E-mailed that post to Russert; I will post any reply here but I don't expect one.

The sad thing is the journalists who work for the corporate whores know better. I met lots of reporters for top-line media in my former career; they aren't stupid, and most were fairly decent (with some execrable exceptions).

I am too far out of touch with day to day life in the US to figure how rotten the process has become. But it's Journalism 101 to ask a military candidate what he thinks about nonmilitary issues and his ability to handle all the duties and issues that face the President.

Duh.
