Fall back would be a somewhat democratic shiite/islamist(non iranian model) state if possible and a democratic kurdish state which already exists in some fashion. Did anyone say containment? All kidding aside, i think getting saddam takes on great urgency here. Most sunnis like saddam much less than us, but live in terror of being on the wrong side when the baathists regain power. I think we are more actively looking for the big guy than before. We need a big visible win over there. And for us cons and neocons and realists, its time to stop worshipping past failed policy. Thats the liberals game. We on the other hand make many mistakes but adapt. IT is much like baseball where a 300 batting average is great. We live in a world where getting intel right and policy right is just as hard as hitting a curveball. mike
