Hen Scratchings ...

<< the eagles really did have a pro team to play against Sunday >>

Well, some Giant's fans may be wondering about that right now, just as us Iggles fans were wondering a month or so ago if we had a pro team, a quarterback, a receiver that could catch a pass, a backfield rotation, a coach, enough doctors to get us through the season ...

Seven wins in eight weeks is not too shabby, although some of the wins were decidedly so.

But picture this ...

- A bright sunny November, Saturday, afternoon with temperatures in the mid-50s
- A local team ranked 6th in the nation playing the 3rd ranked I-AA team
- A capacity crowd of 22,000 at "The Tub"
- Refreshments and the real "Tub" waiting back at the club

Check the box score (and the revised national post-game rankings):

                   1 2 3 4 OT 2OT 3OT Score
(3) Delaware 3 14 7 7 7 7 6 51
(7) Massachusetts 0 14 7 10 7 7 0 45

The Blue Hens wrap the regular season 30 miles up the street against an underrated Villanova club next week, then on to the playoffs.

Football, at any level, just doesn't get any better than this and there is no better way to spend a nippy fall afternoon.

Speaking of Villanova, keep your eye out for No. 36 of the Iggles. Destined for super-stardom. Made the Hens miserable in his 4 years up the street when he set the all-time national record of 9,885 all-purpose yards.

<< oops. g >>

I sure hope that 'g' is a typo and not one of them grinnie thingies.
