(NYSE:MVL - News), which has reaped a licensing bonanza from films baased on characters like Spider-Man and the Hulk, on Monday said it raised its financial forecast for 2004, based on strong retailer promotions. ADVERTISEMENT The company said it expects a net increase in sales in 2004 over 2003, in a range of $415 million to $435 million, up from its previous outlook for sales of $315 million to $345 million. Net income is expected to be in the range of $98 million to $111 million. Net income is expected to decline versus a year ago due to a higher tax rate, but Marvel said its outlook was better than its previous forecast for net income in a range of $74 million to $87 million. Marvel's share price has more than tripled so far this year as the company evolves from a comic book publisher into a licensing powerhouse that has yielded a number of hit films based on its characters
