does that imply that in order to win democrats one should pretend to be a racists? I am not making a claim about Kennedy one waty or another but your statement seems to imply that democratic party is more racist than republican since republicans did not want to or did not need to compromise.

Trent Lott, Jesse Helms, David Duke are not typical republicans. Their membership in Republican party always bothered me but at the same time I see a number of outstanding people.
