Amax was in there mining for a few years, paid off capex very quickly, got bonanza grade in some spots, 20oz/ton and better, but they did not plan mine layout well, or look ahead much ... then they shot the wad on Refugio, got beaten down by the gold bear, Kinross took them over but not before X-Cal got Sleeper ... i like their prospects very much, at this point it is my largest position in the golds, been swing trading it for years .... here's an article from January, good overall background - investorshub.com
I think van Eeden makes good points there, but they are secondary factors, really it is like JimWillie says, the marxist bastards are confiscating the assets, bit by bit .... and it's true, those companies paid slave wages for years, paid little in taxes, shovelled over buckets of money to shareholders ... so, now it's pay-back time .... i wouldn't rule out the possibility of a vigourous bounce in them though, if/when Ms Market deems them overly sold down ... cheers |
