this sustained selling can only be from the scandals we have seen.

I seem to know quite a few people who are long term "buy and hold" investors, who do not trade in their accounts. I can't think of one person who has mentioned "the scandals" in the market, despite all of the attention this has received in the news lately.

I realize that large pension investors such as Calpers are pulling their funds out of specific funds biz.yahoo.com
but IMO the average retail investor doesn't seem to be following their example. There seem to have been so many "scandals" in the last couple of years, that I think the average investor is overwhelmed by the information (that they most likely don't understand) being presented by the media. Others seem to feel that the "agenda" is primarily politics...and it is something they're not interested in following.
