Jimbobwae,

Thanks for the helpful info. I was impressed with a used Dell Optiplex PII-400 small form factor box that I got for a friend on ebay for $93 delivered. Very much liked the quiet operation, quick booting and easy internal access. I'm in the market for a few dedicated downloading boxes—these Dells would fit the bill but I'd pay a few bux extra for something a little more up-to-date about $300 max.

What are the features on this machine that made you want to pay the premium? Are you running WinXP?

You're probably swapping in an RW drive you already have? Otherwise, wouldn't a DVD-RW be OK for CD writing?
