I suspect that General Boykin's reality is much more intense than you or I can imagine.

My son doesn't believe in a higher power, but came to an understanding after the wife of a colleague died from breast cancer. She was 29 years old and left two young daughters. My son was very close to the family.....spent vacations with them and ate at their house often.....so he naturally attended the funeral. Several days after the funeral he took the opportunity to spend some time with them. During that visit the five year old asked him where her mommy was. Even though he wasn't comfortable with the question, he couldn't find it within himself to tell the child that her mommy was a stone cold mass of dead rotting flesh lying six feet under that would eventually end up feeding the worms.

He told her that her mommy was in heaven with the angles.

What I am suggesting is that regardless of our own beliefs, we occasionally must reach deep down into the very recess of our being and appeal to the tolerant side of our humanity. And that at those times we learn lessons that benefit us all.

Of course it is quite apparent that terrorists don't understand that concept. And most of us are very glad to have able men like General Boykin working for us......religious convictions and all.

If, like General Clark, you think you know, or know someone that knows, where the master minds of terrorism and intolerance are.....we'd all very much appreciate you sharing.
