eBay's Response to Fraud Hi geoffrey, you wrote "This is an old story about how there is fraud on Ebay on occasion. ..." --- My understanding of the situation is that this is a growing problem, not a problem whose magnitude is stable. --- My eyebrows raised Not over the fact of fraud, but because of eBay's response, or rather lack of response, to being informed of it. My further research showed me that many eBay users who have reported frauds of various sorts have Not been satisfied with eBay's attitude toward frauds. --- IMO, saying, as you did, "...there is fraud everywhere..." may very well express what seems to be eBay's attitude too (perhaps combined with a shrug & a "So what?) --- When the sheriff shrugs & says "So what? There's crime everywhere", then when people find out that's his attitude, & the next election comes, there'll be a new sheriff. EBay users depend on eBay for a safe marketplace. You think they won't vote with their feet? I think they will. --- I think the great majority of eBay users are as yet unaware of the extent & growth of fraud on eBay. When the awareness of this problem, its extent, its growth, & eBay's attitude & response to it become widespread, I believe it will have an effect on users' perception of eBay, & on the company's public image & stock price. --- I've been wrong before now, of course. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for your input.
