Yes, but they can't live here for less. So eventually, you have to pay them more, or pay other people doing the same work less. And insofar as other countries ripping off our technology, that will happen. Why, because it can. China rips off our technology all the time. We go over there because it's cheaper initially, set up the factory, and teach them how to do the job. Eventually, they won't need us to teach them. We've essentially bootstrapped them up the learning curve. No, production of goods always goes to the lowest labor cost market. And this will happen with intellectual activity as well, in time. Only certain services that are extremely specialized will remain high valued and high priced in this country. The average standard of living will go down here.....eventually. Unless things change.
