If you had been paying the max into it the last years before you retired, out of your own pocket at double the employee rate, it might change your attitude. Nope.. if I don't need it to live on because I'm wealthy, have more than enough in savings to carry me through retirement, PLUS leave a fortune to my kids, then I don't need to be collecting SS. That's the problem with SS.. It used to be a social insurance program that somehow got turned into an entitlement. Hawk
