I forgot that, actually, Germany-type inflation did occur right at the start of US history with the "continental" currency.

Oh come on, quit making the silly comparison with the Weimar Republic. Germany was a defeated and exploited nation in 1920. Things are bad enough without exaggerating and distorting them.

There's a huge difference between a currency losing 50% of its value over a five-year period (which is very bad, and which may well happen with the current U.S. dollar if present policies continue) and totally losing all value, (which is what happened in Germany).
