How can it ever lose another war armed to the teeth thanks to our largesse? "It could be blanked by Arab or Iranian nukes" I wasn't aware that either the Arabs or the Iranians had nukes. You said how could it ever lose not how could it lose tomorrow. There has been peace only because the Arabs have chosen not to confront Israel. There has not been peace. There has been an absence of open warfare between nations only because the Arab nations have realized that they are not powerful enough to deal with Israel. Israel is holding a land and its peoples illegally. Would you "let go" of the Palestinians without a negotiated solution? Would you let the Palestinians have a nation state with all the rights and abilities thereof, without having the Palestinians renounce terrorism and settle on some border? You are willing to offer more then even most of the left in Israel is willing to offer (easy for you as you aren't offering your own land or effecting your own security) but what if you where the PM of Israel and you offer was still rejected? Would you just withdraw from all the areas that where part of your offer without getting any agreement with or a renouncement of terrorism the Palestinians? Israel is one of the main obstructions to peace. She refuses to cooperate........and the reason is because she knows we are standing behind her. Take us out of the picture and Israel would be a lot more cooperative with her neighbors. Maybe the Israelis would give more if we didn't back them up, or maybe (legitimately) feeling less secure they would be less willing to make a compromise that would endanger their security. Its a horrible, twisted joke! We do the Iraqis a big favor and remove their dictatorial leader, and now we have to rebuild their country for them gratis. Its the biggest, saddest joke I've ever heard. Whether or not the whole situation is a horrible twisted joke (I disagree there as well but its not relevant to the point so I won't bother arguing about it), the fact is we are and will be giving a lot of aid to Iraq. More then we are currently giving to Israel. Tim
