I had the same problem a few months back. It was suggested that the drive maybe going bad. After repeated disk scans saying that the disk was ok, I tried to determine what program was trying to write to the disk so often and causing the death screen. I discovered it by accident. After un-installing and re-installing Norton programs and still receiving the error message I un-installed and re-installed Goback. GoBack was the culprit. Problem disappeared. Computer ran faster too... My Norton programs were upgraded prior to the death screen showing up... Goback came with the computer.

If you are not a Goback user you might try, by process of elimination, finding the program that might be causing the 'write errors'.

Don't know if any of this will help or not, but hope it helps.
