It is not hypocrisy so much as it is inefficiency. Look at this way, these people were selling to sophisticated investors for years.

Goverment agencies can only act AFTER the damage is done. It requires private effort. Private law suits, but the laws have made it impossible or impractical.

It will be changed someday, like just after the last depression.

What was it Winston Churchill said, "American always do the right thing, after exhausting all other alternatives."
