LindyBill, I think that the rise in employment, which caused exuberance in the White House, was a temporary phenomenon. If you notice, it was during the period of relative calm in international terrorism. YOu can already see that the recent bombings in Turkey has influenced the finance markets.

Investors do not like such instability and hence will exit and sit on the sidelines. We have got to win the war on terrorism first for any significant improvement on the US economic front.
