I think it is a damn shame that Donaldson is so corrupt that he'd prematurely end the Putnam investigation. Following the well deserved demise of Arthur Andersen, seeing Putnam put out of its misery would have sent a strong signal to the wildmen and gangsters posing as America's CEOs that they had better tone down their thievery and keep it within the bounds of corrupt decorum.

Donaldson sent exactly the wrong message. That crooks in high places have a friend in the SEC.
