Democrats Stacked Some Federal Courts

Memo offers evidence that liberals have declared war on conservative judges.
What's happened in Massachusetts on the issue of homosexual "marriage" is an example of the political nature of America's courts. A recently leaked memo spotlights another.
According to internal Democratic memos, staffers of Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., and a judge appointed by President Carter made extraordinary efforts to ensure that a liberal majority sat on the federal appeals court that heard recent Michigan affirmative action cases. They also delayed one of President Bush's nominees to the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals until two conservative justices retired.
George Mason University professor Michael Krauss said he is troubled by the memos.
"These memos seem to indicate that the entire nominations process was skewed, and that's political interference with a case, which is constitutionally unacceptable," Krauss said.
But he added that he doubts anything will be done until Americans get upset enough to speak out.
"I'm very upset and have been for some time at the absolutely exceptional obstruction tactics used by certain Senate Democrats during President Bush's administration," Krauss said. "But I don't know yet that the American public is upset."
Kay Daly, who heads the Coalition for a Fair Judiciary, said Christians have to get involved if they expect to see any changes.
"This is so outrageous on its face," Daly said. "I would hope that every American would say (they've had) enough of the left-wing influence on the courts."
Another leaked memo describes a meeting between a staffer of Illinois Democratic Sen. Richard Durbin and liberal special-interest groups to discuss ways to block Bush nominees.
