All I can say is that Virginia law is directly on point that Virginia is not obliged by that clause to recognize marriages which violate Virginia public policy.

Your laws, like all of them, are what the Judges say they are. If you get a couple married in Mass who runs into a problem in Virginia and goes to court, it may get recognized if your Supreme Court is Liberal enough. If they turn them down, a Federal court may interpose. This is going to create a whole mess of new legal problems. Which Lawyers love, of course.
