Which means, you don't know and, worse, must trust gov't officials. What we DO know is the lack of success, and the relentlessly increasing terrorism, with reports from CIA and others that it shows no signs of abating.

This is the crux of the problem -- anytime gov't or powerful individuals say "trust me", it's time to check the wall safe and door locks and load the rifle.
