You've made no case against me because I said nothing about terrorists not remaining proud of their work. It's irrelevant to what I said. It is no revelation to me that 100 years from now Islamic terrorists may exist who are proud of their work. Still, the general populace of Germany isn't terribly proud of Hitler.
Typically, leaders who do pre emptive strikes on other nations are usually not remembered in the best light.
What's this talk of the ME Paradigm?
Do you think everyone thinks like we do and wants what we want?
You appear to suggest we cannot defeat Islamic terrorists with an effort.
The Brits and French gave up after 100 years of ME terrorism. After ten years, the Russians gave up in Afghanistan and are just about to give up in Chechnya. Terrorists are usually well armed, well financed ideologues who don't have a sovereign state you can shock and awe or embargo. Its a lethal combination to have to fight.
Are you only trying to say they won't give up? Should we? Do you believe they will not bother us if we simply leave them be?
We can't fight them the way we are fighting them. We will never win this way. We will get stuck in an endless fight. We need to find other ways to defeat them. They will not be as fun as shock and awe but they will be more effective.
I think you are dead wrong.
I am not surprised........you don't understand what we are dealing with. You think our superior might will do the trick. It won't. We are finding out the hard way in Iraq. Presidencies and prime ministries will topple over Iraq. Its just a matter of time.
Will we have to become like them and live under their rule in order to be free of terrorism from them? Hopefully not, eh? So I might surmise you are sure they will leave us in peace so long as we leave them alone. Or will we have to abandon free trade across the Muslim world, which now tempts their people who are not so fervent, in order to satisfy them? What need we do and not do to pacify them? Have you an ironclad plan short of war which allows our freedom to continue on as we'd like? Tell me, and I'll know why you advise we not fight.
We have to beat them economically. We have to wean ourselves of our oil dependency. We have to favor economically those nations that are moving in the right direction politically, socially and economically. Until the average person in the ME is in better shape financially, there will be an endless stream of terrorists and suicide bombers. Even the educated in the ME can't find jobs and the ME has one of the highest population growth rates in the world. There are too many educated and uneducated people with too much time on their hands, surviving in abject poverty while their leaders drive ferraris and live in mansions. They are driven to terrorism.
They attack out of the blue. Their words are defiantly ruthless. Must we sit passively through this? If we are passive, will they really stop? I have no reason to believe our inaction will quell their fervor at all. What sort of ME paradigm do you see? How will your vision lead us to peace?
I never once suggested passivity. However, non passive action does not mean starting a war. I am afraid that if we want to survive in this world in our present form, we will have to take on the job of upgrading the entire world.......not just us alone but with the help of the EU, Japan, Canada etc. This world has become too small to have just a few wealthy nations sitting in the middle of a huge ocean of poverty. |
