People will accept "Civil Union" but not Marriage. I think the numbers are even more skewed against it than the polls show. This is another issue, like race, where people being polled don't like to look like Bigots.

This is another example, like "Roe V Wade," where the courts are making law on a subject that should be handled legislatively. I am not disagreeing with "Roe," just with the way it was handled. If gay marriage had been fought out in the Legislatures, over a period of years, it would have been accepted. Hawaii is a good example. A very liberal state. But, because of the Asians, very socially conservative. When the court here ruled for gay Marriage, the legislature overturned it.

Smart move for Mitt Romney would have been to pull a "Jackson" and say, "the courts approved it, let them enforce it."
