I've read a counter-hypothesis, that by cutting the head off of Al Qaeda, we've forced them to go to the B-Teams, the locals. Maybe so.

But I don't see how this "bodes well." When you look at the endless, ceaseless strife in Israel, Chechnya, Afghanistan, Nigeria, Sudan, how can anyone have hope of eventual victory? Does he mean that they're killing people over there instead of here? I hope that's not it.

Al Qaeda recruits people whose main expectation in life is to make a name for himself by killing people. These may not be the A-Team, but they have a deep roster. Deep enough.
