The plan is to knock of Afghanistan, as the major harbor of terror, and Iraq, as the major revisionist power in the area (thus making its interests coincide dangerously with the Isalmicists). This makes it harder for the terrorists to plot devastating attacks on the United States. Then, we are basically going to put pressure on Iran and Syria, both of which are in a transitional period, with the hope of moderating their behavior, and perhaps aiding "people power" revolutions such as occurred in Eastern Europe (Iran is riper for this than Syria). This will neutralize the worst state sponsors of terrorism, and also the regimes most likely to have WMDs to supply terrorists. Then we will turn our attention to countries like Saudi Arabia, whose salience as allies will be reduced, and therefore whose bargaining power is reduced, and we will put pressure on them to stop either sponsoring terror, or turning a blind eye on such activities among the elite. Meanwhile, we will actively pursue peace between Israel and the Palestinians, in a context of ever diminishing external support for Palestinian intransigence. Additionally, we will continue to hunt down and close financial reserves for networks like Bin Laden's, and will continue to target leadership for destruction or detention. Sounds like a pretty good plan to me....... |
